The app just won’t work on my mac running Mavericks. I tried contacting the developer but it’s been two weeks and he hasn’t replied. Bad app and bad customer support. Waste of money.
I wanted to create a shortcut for a google docs url, but I cannot paste the URL into the Smart Typer window to create the shortcut - so, this is completely useless for me
App does not work and no support is available.
AS you can read in the description it is necessary to give the application accessibility (Mavericks). But it doesn’t appear in my „privacy pane“. Totally Useless.
Does not work and this app is no longer supported by the developer.
Do not buy this app it is broken and doesn’t work, it should be removed from the app store.
Useless for me.
I live the simplicity of this text replacement tool, very similar to Texter for Windows. The only thing I would LOVE to see and bring this to 5 stars is the ability to format my replacement text. I need more than just a small, 3 word phrase. I sometimes need multiple paragraphs inserted at one time. Please add this ability and this app would be 5 stars. Thanks!
It has a great idea but there are too many shortcomings to make it work for me. If your shortcut is the same as the last few letters in a word youre typing, it will expand it onto the end of the word you typed, leaving you with a jumble of letters. It also doesnt always format the beginning and ending spaces when it does expand it. Itd work great if these nuances were fixed.
I use it for writing my progress notes (Im a mental health and marriage and family therapist). I was wondering if there is any way to only allow the phrase when typed stand alone. For example, if I had a shortcut of nn with a long phrase... but I was attempting to type planning... Is there a pay the entire phrase doesnt populate. And possibly allowing me to to copy or export the shortcuts in an excel document so I can print a cheat sheet... sometimes I forget the shortcut I created. :) Also, possibly creating a way that you cant allow duplicate shortcuts. Honestly, I appreciate this app, some of those requests are not necessary, just helpful….
This app doesnt expand the shortcut into text instantaneously after typing, you need to press space just like the built-in expander (which for me is a drag because I choose shortcuts smartly and I like to have instant expansion). Also character like "" gets omitted, which makes this app totally useless for the purpose I got it for… FYI this app can do put new line with (n), which is cool, however I dont need that personally. 1$ is cheap, but this is not worth it, the built in expander is as good...
I work with the same phrases a lot, and set the short codes up with a number at the end, to make it easier and avoid my regular words getting confused for short codes. If you set this up correctly, it works perfectly! Best app out there for this purpose. I mean really, for $0.99 you cant go wrong!
I use this for templates and instructions that I have to send out dozens of times a week or even a day. The formating of a template on one line was a little awkard the first time using it. I solved that problem by writing out what I want in text edit and then converting to the ST format. It does not like text that starts with a numeric and some non-alphanumeric characters seem not to be recognized. For the price and the functionality, I am very happy and have recommended this to my co-workers.
I feel that this program still needs a lot of work. I am using it as I get so tired of typing in my Email Address and name and address etc into forms. . This program will handle that quite well. It is just not intuitive as I would like.
so glad to find this app. It is simple, easy to use and does exactly what it says it will do. Its perfect for my needs.
it works well. just a note for anyone having problems getting it to work - only use lowercase letters. I used caps and it would not work. this info would be really useful in the instructions.
The program has not been updated to comply with the new way in which Mavericks handles Assiistive Devces permissions, so you get an error upon its launch and nothing works after that. Currently an absolute waste of time and money (even if little). I have contaced the developer with a precise description of the problem complete with images of the error pop-up and the absence of the program in the Accessibility permission list, but have not heard a single word back. I was really looking forward to using this app, and I will gladly update this review and rating should the developer do the right thing and update this program, or at least prevent people using Mavericks from buyng it!
Ive tried to enable universal access for this app on Maverick but it doesnt appear as one of the options. In my opinion, this app is worthless and I would love to get my money back. Their support did not respond to my several attempts either. DONT BUY IT!
Bought and installed on my Mac as per the directions. At best, it works 50% of the time, which defeats the purpose of the app. If I have to constantly check to see if the app did its job and/or fix what it fails to do, there’s not much point to having the app. I gave it two stars for the 50% of the time that it did work. This is probably a small developer with limited resources, but as yet I’ve received no response to my support email.
